Handwash Feetwash I honestly don't have anything against dishwashers. But I was just wondering. Would Jesus use a dishwasher or would he wash dishes by hand? There is a part of me that thinks he would prefer to handwash dishes. But the truth of the matter is that he probably wouldn't necessarily have a preference. Jesus would just do the dishes. There is no record of Jesus washing dishes in the gospels, but it is most likely that he washed some. Jesus did talk about dishwashing. He was really against cleaning just the outside of a dish. One thing the Bible does say about Jesus is that he washed feet. I have heard it said that washing feet takes more humility than dishwashing. Let's read what Jesus had to say: "If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you." - John 13:14-15 Does Jesus really expect us to wash other people's feet? Feet washing is still something practiced in churches today. But the world has really changed since Jesus was on it. It's not that people's feet don't get dirty anymore. It just the way we clean our feet has changed. No longer do we have servants to wash our feet instead we wash our own feet, and I hope we wash our own feet regularly. But just because we don't wash feet the same way they did in Jesus's time doesnt mean that we can't follow his example. Can you think of anyway you can serve others? Getting back to the topic of dishwashing check out this quote: "I always think my wife will be most impressed when I buy her flowers. She does appreciate them and she likes them. But what she really seems to like is the times that I do the dishes. It may be that the most spiritual thing you may do today is to do the dishes. It could be a God thing." - Bill Tinsley (https://www.reporternews.com/story/life/faith/2017/05/05/did-jesus-do-dishes/101266148/) But washing dishes is not the only way you can serve others.
Here is a list of things you can do for others:

I just shaved for the first time a few weeks ago. I have shaved a few times since then, but I am getting a little hairy again. I probably need to shave again soon. And I was thinking about things we need to do again and again. There are many things that need to be done regularly. Some daily, like teeth brushing. Some weekly, like, well I can't think of anything right now other than shaving. And I still don't know how often I need to shave. As Christians there are certain things we need to do reqularly that others don't need to do.

I read that phrase in a book I read once. That little advice "Write something you would want to read". Has been something that I have thought a lot about over the last few years. And it has sometimes kind of discourage me from writing. Because a lot of the time I feel as if my writing is not something I would want to read. Like this piece for example. I am enjoying writing it. I just don't if I would enjoy reading it. Do you ever get discouraged with your writing? I just want to encourage you. If God put a message on your heart don't be afraid to share it. What would make this something I would what to read. And some tips for writing.
Handwash vs. Dishwash - Part 2 (Aug 6,7 - 2020) Hi, I ran out of time yesterday, and there is more I want to say on this topic. So thinking about handwashing and dishwashing has also got me thinking about ourselves and how we are all born sinners. We are all born with dirty hearts. "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? " - Jeremiah 17:9 If you are like the average person, you are probably wondering what can be done to clean your heart. The bad news is that there is nothing you can do to clean your heart. Have you ever seen dishes wash themselves? The good news is that there is someone. His name is Jesus. He did all that was necessary to clean you white as snow. He was God's son. You would think that God is so powerful that he could have thrown us into a big dishwasher to clean us. But He loved and loves us so much that he sent his one and only to die on the cross for us. We were not dishwasher cleaned. We are washed by the blood of Jesus. " For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." - John 3:16 Now I know more could be learned from thinking about dishwashers and handwashing dishes. That is why I encourage you to take some time to think about it. And if you have just accepted Jesus as your Savior, please take some time to pray about it. And I would be grateful if you let me know. You can read part 1 only on medium! (Ya The SunShining is now on medium!!!)

Waiting
That line from one of the last episodes of Cemetery Reflections about being productive. The line about multitasking. "Is multitasking do too much at the same time, or is it doing too much with too little time?" Really amazing and inspirational question. Really makes you think. But that is not really what I want to talk about today. Today I want to talk about waiting. Right now I am just struggling with waiting. (And for what I don't really know.) Waiting for inspiration to write. Waiting for God to tell me what to do with my life or what to write. As I am thinking about waiting there is a lyric going through my head about waiting: "I will worship while I'm waiting." I love worshiping God. But also while I am waiting I am keeping myself busy. One of the biggest things I am working on it SunBible. And it is keeping me really busy. And I am starting to wonder if the reason the wait is so long is because I am so busy. If I cleared my schedule up so that I would be ready for what God wants for me, then maybe I wouldn't be waiting so long. As a writer waiting is a part of my life. I guess waiting is a part of everyone's life. But for the last little while(About a few years), I feel like I have been going through a dry season. And I have been waiting for the energy to write. I have been waiting for the inspiration to write. I have been waiting for the time to write. I have been waiting for the courage to write. (And now that COVID-19 has changed the world, I am waiting for a time when I can do book signing events.) Well, I don't want to make this piece all about me and my writing. So I will share a bit about waiting Waiting is ok, it can even be good. There are verses in the Bible about waiting. And while you are waiting you have time to think and process things. But waiting can be a waste of time if not used right. Tips for using waiting right:
This is a really big one for Christian writers because our inspiration comes from God. But also worshiping God while you are waiting is a great thing to do for anybody. 3. While you are waiting - pray Prayer is important all the time. But prayer is especially important while waiting. 4. While you are waiting - know that you are waiting Waiting can be hard at times because you feel like you are not accomplishing anything. If you are waiting, then wait. And don't feel guilty if you are not accomplishing anything. 5. While you are waiting - make yourself available I am not a professional at waiting. I like to keep myself busy. But while I am waiting I need to make myself available. Available for what I am waiting for. And just available to other people. This is something I need to work on. I hope you enjoyed this little piece on waiting. I just want to close by saying that even when you can't see it God is working. And while you are waiting things are happening. While you are waiting things are changing, you are changing. While you are waiting don't get discouraged. God's got big plans for you. Enjoy your waiting.
Verses:
Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. Psalms 27:14 KJV Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. Wisdom talking in Proverbs 8:34 KJV |
