Psalm 1-Some notes

For the last few weeks I have been reading through the book of job. I am not done with it yet, but this morning I read the first chapter of psalm. I reall like that psalm. A few years ago i wrote a book on the book of psalm(Not yet published.) Every time I read a chapter from psalm I get somthing differnt from it. Below are 2 pieces of writing on Psalm 1. One of the writings I did today, the other I did a few years ago.

This is the writing I did a couple of years ago:
A Description of a Blessed and Obedient man

Psalm 1 is one of my favorite chapters in Psalm. I like to think of it is a description of a good, obedient and blessed  man. It can describe anyone that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful, but his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
The key thought in psalm 1 is blessing. God really wants to bless you, but He does not want to bless just any kind of person. So He creates requirements.  God does not force people to be good and to meet those requirements. He gives us the choice. If you want to be blessed you must choice and do the things required to be blessed.
You can say that that psalm 1 describes you but does it. It describes a good person. Are you a good person?

This is the writing I did this morning:
Untitled:

It is not enough to just simply keep away from eviel. You hear so many people say, "well, I am good enough, I don't do anything bad".
But being good enough wont get you any blessings, and certainly wont get you to heaven.
You must delight yourself in the law of the Lord day and night for blessings.

Verse 5 says: "Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous."
When I read this verse this morning the word ungodly jumed out to me. Being ungodly is somthing you defintly don't want to be. But what does it mean to be and how can one be godly. Below are a few things I came up with.
Being godly means that...
...you love God.
...you obey God.
...you seek God.
...you have God in you.
Literally that everything about your life has God in it or relects His glory.

Psalm 1
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

I highly recommen that you visit my Bible website. Where you can read the whole Bible (KJV). And where you can find lots of notes by me, and I am constantly adding more notes. Currently adding notes to the book of Psalm and Job.
