SunShine on Bible Memorization
You can get so much more out of the scripture if you memorize it.
Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. - Psalm 119: 9,11,105 |
Hi, my name is N.C.R.
Studying the Bible should be a big part of our life. That is why I created SunShining Bible Study to help people study the Bible. And a big part of Bible study is Bible memorization. So, I have created this page to help and encourage bible memorization. |
The SunShining created a website with the entire bible (KJV). One thing that makes this site special is that throughout it there are bible memorization notes to help you and guide you in your memorization of the scripture.

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. - Hebrews 4:12 |

An easy and fun way to memorize verses: Step 1. Write out the whole verse on paper Example: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. - John 3:16 Step 2. Read the verse over and over, and each time cross out all but the first letter of a different word. Eventually John 3:16 should look like: F G s l t w, t h g h o b S, t w b i h s n p, b h e l. By the time john 3:16 looks like that you should have it memorized. Step 3. Continue studying and memorizing it. Eventually you should even be able to cross out the first letters too. |
Steps to memorization: Step 1: Pick Bible version Step 2: Pick what you want to memorize Step 3: Memorize Step 4: Review it to keep it memorized (very important) Ways to memorize: 1. Sing the verses you want to memorize 2. Listen to the verse you want to memorize 3. Read them over and over |

How to memorize
Suggestions for the pupil:
Suggestions for the pupil:
- Be sure you know exactly what and how much you are to memorize before you begin.
- Make every effort to understand the material that is being memorized.
- Think of the benefit of the material you are learning.
- Memorize in a quiet place, where you can concentrate on the lesson.
- Memorize short selections as wholes rather than as parts.
- Memorize long selections by parts which have a single general thought; then memorize the connections between the parts. But read the entire selection carefully and thoughtfully several times before studying the parts.
- Memorize exactly (carelessly memorized material is quickly forgotten; exactness in all things aids character growth).
- Begin early and memorize in short periods, avoiding last-minute cramming effort.
- Review frequently the material you have memorized, even after you know it perfectly ("overlearning" aids the retention of memorized materials).
- Let someone test you before you recite in school, or test yourself by writing the lesson for memory.
